North Dallas Handbook

The North Dallas Juniors Volleyball Association was started in 1993 by Dick and Robin Bugg. Since the program's birth, over 400 athletes have played for the club, of which, 101 out of 104 athletes who completed their senior season with North Dallas have received some form of college scholarships. No other club in the Metroplex can match that record!

The co-directors began with a few simple objectives:
-To promote the sport of volleyball to young women in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex
-To improve each athlete's skills and knowledge of the game
-To educate each athlete on the aspects of team and individual goals
-To improve the pride and self-esteem of each athlete
-To create a positive environment for athletes that promotes sportsmanship, competition, and fair play
-To provide an opportunity for athletes to prepare for a collegiate level of play
-To provide coaches with the opportunity to improve their skills through the experiences offered in coaching exceptional athletes and through the certification programs established in the USA Volleyball Juniors Program--Increased Mastery and Professional Application of Coaching Theory (IMPACT) and the Coaches Accreditation Program (CAP)
-To function in line with the guidelines established by the UIL, the NCAA, and the USA Volleyball Juniors Program

Over the years, NDJVA has evolved to include several important factors that should be considered by those choosing a juniors club:

Coaching Staff:
Experience, personalities, and cohesiveness. You will find that NDJVA has the most experienced coaching staff in the area. We have three coaches that have coached at the NCAA Division I collegiate level. Every coach including assistants have competed in NCAA Division I Volleyball

Organization:
The practice schedule is fixed: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00pm. Monday night practices focus on teaching individual technique and conditioning, while Wednesday night practices are team oriented. Coaches work together before each Monday practice to review what drills will be the most beneficial for the specific skills being focused on that night. During these practices, players rotate coaches according to his or her expertise. This structure exposes players to a variety of coaching methods and drills. Each team is assigned one head coach and one assistant coach. Coaches have their own notebooks to keep track of past and future practice plans, team line-ups, rotation sheets, program participant information, and much more. No illegal UIL situations occur between players and their high school coaches.

Head Coach Involvement:
Monday night practices are directed by the head coach, Diane Seymour. She structures the practices and coordinates with each coach to include areas where their teams need more work. These practices give her the opportunity to work with each athlete in the progam throughout the club season. Assistance with college recruiting: Though we cannot guarantee scholarships, we will assist you with the college recruiting process. All interested juniors that played with North Dallas last year (seniors this year) made their skills tapes in May to send out to colleges.

Uniform Defense and Offense:
Uniform defense and offense patterns are taught throughout the program. The helps players as they grow through the NDJVA program.

Fee Structure for Participation:
NDJVA's fee structure is a fair break down of the many costs that are associated with running an elite volleyball program. All payment information is presented up front and payment can be rendered at once or on a regular payment schedule throughout the course of the season.

You can now make payments online by clicking here. We have started an online payment system using First American Payment Systems.

2006-07 Tryout Info
NEW 06-07 North Texas Region Tryout procedure

The North Texas Region has created a window in which players can have an opportunity to tryout for multiple clubs. The window will start with a Saturday morning and run through Wednesday at noon. Clubs can have as many tryouts as they want, this simply creates the front end of the tryouts for clubs. A club may give an offer to a player and that player may accept that offer at any time; however, if a written offer is made, that offer must stay on the table until the signing date...(cont.)
